This is the tune we recorded as an intro to a Radiohead cover, which may come out on b-sides one day. However, when I went back and listened to the piece it sounded like its own piece. The more and more I heard it just reminded me of Nina Simone and Alice Coltrane or like one of those hugs that you get from your grandma. Sometimes a hug from “the mother” makes it all better, and that praying moan is an experience I grew up with. Night church service was the best service ever. I hated going back to church but when we’d go.. It was like a side of church that you just didn’t get to see at 11:00 a.m. service. It was all the “real” spiritual folks, the folks who knew that a moan and a hum could really heal the soul. I really believed that this was “the real” church. How do we get back here?
